The origin
The Las Vegas Netto Franco Artist association was created in 1983 in Toulouse by two visual artists, Anne Papillault and Will de Graaff. After ten years of activity in the Pink City, the plastic arts and drawing studio moved to Paris to finally moor in Marseille in 1999 at 55 rue Jean Fiolle (6th arrondissement). It welcomes children from 3 years old for painting and drawing lessons.
The teacher
Passionate about teaching, Anne Papillault leads various actions such as the book workshop in primary schools in Marseille in collaboration with Carla Rocchi, the bookbinder. Together, they took part in the four Marseille Book Festivals where they exhibited children’s books designed by the Korsec and Parmentier schools and the Dugommier center. In the Perrin Solier and Cours Julien schools, Anne Papillault accompanied the children in the creation of a fresco.
In addition, she is interested in therapeutic openness and also works as a visual artist in several day hospitals and educational medical institutes for children and adolescents.
Pedagogy
Interested in Arno Stern’s non-directive pedagogy, Anne Papillault was also inspired by Steiner-Waldorf, which develops sensoriality, harmony, and rhythm. She also drew on the Martenot method to awaken the movement and the quality of the trace.
At the Beaux-Arts, she explored many techniques and their infinite potential. Anne Papillault has for years been offering 1-hour workshops for children aged 3 to 6 and 1h30 for older children where she passes on her discoveries.
A reduced number of people for each group thus makes it possible to respect the spontaneity of the gesture and the rhythm of each one in order to promote creativity. Hence the possibility of mixing students regardless of their age. Painting and drawing are for this teacher from the Las Vegas Netto Franco Artist workshop a natural, regenerating expression, and a creative attitude in life.
